  In high school Keith began working at Beaverton Florists for his uncle Paul Jakobson and continued until going off to college, and then dental school at OHSU where he earned a doctorate in dental medicine (DMD). Keith practiced dentistry in Portland Oregon in the St. Johns area from 1984 until 1997. While practicing dentistry Keith continued to assist at holiday times in the flower shop. While Keith was in dental school his parents Richard and Florence Hill purchased the shop from her brother and grew the business into a Top 100 Florist with FTD. In 1997 Richard and Florence retired and Keith and his wife Sheri took over day to day operation. Keith oversees the marketing, staffing, and floral purchasing.

         Andrew came on board in December 2007. Andy has completed his Bachelors degree in Business at Oregon State University with emphasis on marketing. Andy brings a fresh perspective in the IT and marketing to the business and continues to learn the fundamentals of retail flower sales.

 Sheri Hill grew up in the Beaverton area and married Keith in 1977. Sheri worked and supported the family while Keith was in school and assisted in his dental practice. Sheri and Keith have 4 wonderful children. Sheri has worked at Beaverton Florists since 1987 as bookkeeper and in 1997 she and Keith took over day to day operations. Sheri handles all the accounts payable and accounts receivables along with the purchasing and marketing for the gift division. Sheri is always willing to answer any questions you may have regarding your account at Beaverton Florists.  Our business office hours are Monday - Friday from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm.

 Richard and Florence Hill purchased Beaverton Florists from Florence’s brother Paul Jakobson in 1980. Before running the flower shop Richard work for Goodyear Tire & Rubber in Portland for 24 years, lastly as the assistant manager of the Truck Tire Center. Richard is originally from Williams, CA and moved to Oregon in 1953. Florence is a graduate of Beaverton High School class of  1953 and they have been married since 1955. Richard and Florence ran Beaverton Florists very successfully and during their tenure grew to be in the Top 100 FTD flower shops in the nation.

 Our design staff has over 150+ years of professional experience. Kathy Johns is our store manager and head designer and has been with Beaverton Florists since 1979. Our other designers are Angela, Julie, Deb, Amber, and Richard. Our plant designer is Kate.

Our great staff of Delivery drivers are the ones that meet all the special requests for time and difficult to find addresses. Paula Kaiser is our delivery supervisor and our other drivers are Phyllis, Becky, Sandra, Teresa, Tom, and Shondell.

Our newest addition to our staff is Tom who has the huge task of processing all incoming flowers and freight. Tom has proved to be up to the job and then some! Welcome Tom.

Our History

 
Ralph Bech’s dream of opening a flower shop started in 1945 over on Lombard Avenue next to his greenhouse that he used to grow his product. Beaverton Florists joined FTDin January 1949. After 17 years Ralph and Vi opened in ½ of our current location on 2nd and Watson Ave in 1962 in central Beaverton. In 1968 they sold the business to Paul and Delores Jakobson. During the 60’s and 70’s Paul and Delores grew the business and remodeled the building. In 1980 they decided to retire and sold the business to Richard and Florence Hill who continued to expand and grow the business adding space by taking over the entire building and increasing sales. Keith & Sheri have continued to grow and keep Beaverton Florists in the Top 100 florists in the nation ranked by FTD.  In 2001 Beaverton Florists was completely remodeled and expanded to our current configuration.
